The problem I see with AdSense is that if you have a quality website and if you have web traffic do you really want to send people off your page and onto the other websites as they click through? I'd rather keep them on my website or promote products through text links which I insert in places throughout my content. This is called affiliate marketing.

Earning cash online from affiliate products is an excellent way to build an income from your website. There are so many companies who sell affiliate products online that you can pick and choose. It is important to do your research before adding programs to your website. Selecting products from ClickBank for example is a good idea because they enable you to research the product conversion rate, (what percentage of buyers will buy the product), and enable you easily to set up your affiliate links.

Affiliate marketing allows you to earn cash online easily without the need for any stock and no delivery is necessary. All you do is write content, promote the product using text links and recommendations throughout your website and interested visitors will click through and a certain percentage will buy.

How much cash can I earn from selling affiliate products?

The sky's the limit! But in my experience of 10 years online I've discovered that everything depends on having a good level of targeted traffic. If your visitors are not interested in the subject of your page then they will not be interested in the products that you have to offer.

How much traffic do you need? Let's look at an example:

If a page gets 100 visitors chances are that 5 to 10 of them will click through to your affiliate product sales page and the Internet average conversion rate is between 1 and 3% , so assuming 10 visitors click through, you will have 0.3 sales which actually means no sales. Let's say you get 1000 visitors to a page then 50 to 100 visitors would click through and from that you could expect between one and three sales.

In reality this means that you need to really be looking at thousands of visitors before you can make serious cash. Of course these figures are not exact and some websites manage to achieve higher click thrus and higher conversion rates than average.

So how can you earn and make money from your website?

1. Write a lot of high quality content

2. Do everything possible to get as much traffic as you can

3. Forget banner ads, any use only in-content text

4. Write reviews and recommendations but first provide free information

5. Build a list and regularly send useful e-mails or newsletters

6. Aim to become an expert so that you will build credibility

Once you start to make a few sales, keep going with whatever works. Keep testing and rewriting content or text links until they work better. Get testimonials from happy customers.

If you want to earn and make money on the Internet the most important thing is to constantly focus on your readers and give them what they want before you ask them to give you something.
